One question deserves one public source
An Answer Object begins with one commercially meaningful buyer question and the knowledge required to answer it. Closely related phrasings that still require substantially the same answer form its question family. It does not begin with a blog format.
The question determines the role the public source must perform. A stable concept may need an explanation. A changing conclusion may need a dated evidence surface. Protected research may need a source record: a public account of what knowledge exists, who owns it, what it can establish and how governed access works, without publishing the protected result itself.
Whatever the form, a credible public source should:
- answer the buyer's question directly;
- stay within one coherent question family;
- show who produced it, when and on what basis;
- make the public and protected boundary intelligible.
These are public standards, not Delphic's construction procedure. The held method decides which source form fits, how much evidence is sufficient, how the disclosure line is calibrated and how the finished object is verified against the measured market.
Form and disclosure are different decisions
Format and disclosure solve different problems. Format asks what source the question requires. Disclosure asks which parts of the firm’s knowledge can cross the public line. A complete public explanation can still use a rigorous framework format; a highly protected dataset can still have a useful source record. Calling everything an article collapses these decisions and produces pages that look different only in their labels.
| Buyer question requires | Appropriate public object | What remains protected |
|---|---|---|
| A reusable explanation that can be disclosed in full | A framework that publishes the answer, reasoning and basis | Nothing essential to understanding the public answer |
| Access to a protected dataset, forecast or judgement | A source record that establishes the authority, scope, provenance and access path | The protected result, method or data itself |
The public layer should be substantive. Definitions, comparisons, statistics and procedural clarity can be used wherever they come from non-sensitive material. What remains protected is not protected because the page needs a teaser. It remains protected because it is the paid judgement, dataset, forecast, method or operational knowledge that creates commercial value.
This page demonstrates the distinction
This page is a framework-form Answer Object. It answers one question, defines the concept, shows its basis and discloses the family it serves. That does not make its structure a template for every other object. A method, measured finding, service capability or protected source should carry the evidence its own question requires.
Success is also more than presentation. A suitable public source must be discoverable for the family, used or credited when relevant and position the firm appropriately. Those outcomes are measured after publication rather than inferred from a heading or schema markup.
Research on generative-search verifiability has found citations that are incomplete or fail to support the sentence attached to them. That makes visible provenance and source inspection valuable in their own right. The Princeton GEO benchmark also found that content interventions varied across domains. The evidence supports question-specific construction and testing, not one universal page recipe.
A credible source without emptying the product
Even a prominent firm can leave an important question poorly evidenced when it has no suitable current public source. Yet publishing the paid answer can destroy the reason a buyer pays for it. The Answer Object sits between those constraints: enough real knowledge to become a credible source, in the form the question requires, with the commercial core still intact.
